Interface for Startup

Pretty new to this OWIN stuff, so please bear with me if this is a dumb question.

Is there an interface or specification for the Startup class in self hosted/IIS hosted applications? I know a Startup class is supposed to have a Configuration method that will be handed the IAppBuilder instance, and you're supposed to wire up your middlewares in that method. Unfortunately, this requirement for a Configuration method exists only in my extremely rusty memory, and the compiler can't prod me when I call my method something dumb like Configurate or something or accept an int instead of an IAppBuilder.

Instead of relying on "convention" magic, and having things get wired up via config files and reflection and such, could we maybe expose an explicit in-code API for picking the Startup class, and possibly through type constraints ensure that this class implements an IStartup interface with the necessary methods?
